Hiromi Nomura AIFD, Bella Flora
Hiromi, born and raised in Tokyo, Japan, began her studies in European
Floral Design in 1990. She received her teaching certification from the
Japan Flower Designer’s Association in 1994, and taught until moving to
San Francisco in 1997. While adjusting to married life and learning
English, she studied Floristry at City College of San Francisco. While
there, she participated in the SAIFD design competitions in 1999 and
2000, and was awarded First Overall in 2000, along with five other
individual First Awards. Upon completion of her floristry studies, she
worked as a freelance designer for weddings and parties. Intent on
broadening her skills, she also studied Ikebana, and in 2001, received
her teaching certification from the Sogetsu Ikebana Foundation. In
2002, Hiromi was inducted into the AIFD (American Institute of Floral
Designers), and in the following year was selected to participate in the
AIFD Symposium as a Designer.
At present, although busy caring for her twins, she remains active with
flowers through her work with designs for the Asian Art Museum, her
participation in San Francisco’s Bouquet to Arts, and through her
business, Belle Flora.
